- First Wave: 10:00am
Location: The race will start and finish in Washington Crossing Historic Park, Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania.
Field Limit: The runner field will be limited to 500 participants.
Weather: This is a rain or shine event. In the event or rain, canal towpath may be muddy.
Parking: There is limited free parking at Washington Crossing Historic Park, please consider carpooling and arrive early.
Start: In order to reduce crowding on the Delaware Canal State Park towpath, the race will employ a wave start. Small groups based on seed times will be released over a ten minute period. Please be honest with your seed times. Incorrect times make travel on along the Canal towpath more difficult.
The Course: The course is the same as our September ALTERNATIVE HALF MARATHON. It is out-and back along the historic Delaware Canal State Park towpath trail from Washington Crossing Historic Park north through New Hope, Pennsylvania, turning around neat Chez Odette's south of New Hope, returning to Washington Crossing Historic Park. The first and last .5 miles are on paved surface. There will be signs at each mile mark.
Built in 1832, the tow path is narrow in some sections, requiring single file travel. The towpath has several camelback bridge underpasses with low clearance. Taller people may feel the need to duck under a few of them.
Hydration/ Aid Stations:
There will be 7 station hydration station locations with EaglesPeak water and sports replacement drinks. Three stations each way, out-and-back along the course and one at the turn around.
- Overlook (miles 1.25 and 11.85),
- River Road at Stoney Run Aqueduct (miles 2.6 and 10.5)
- Waste gate at Bowman's Hill/ Pidcock Creek (miles 4.4 and 8.7)
- Turn Around (mile 6.55)
Time Limit: We will impose a three hour 15 minute time limit on the course. Aid stations will be closed at a 3:15 hour pace plus the time last starter crossed the starting line. The turnaround will be disassembled at 11:45AM. We respectfully suggest that you wear a watch to assist with pacing.
Timing: The race will be timed using ChronoTrack "B" (bib) chips. Results will be posted to the results and photos page within 24 hours of the event.
Awards: Overall awards will be given to top three men and women and top three in age groups by gender. Age groups are subject to change dependent on pre-registration.
We will conduct a ceremony for the top three men and women finishers after a cool down period for those finishers. We will post age group results approximately 15 minutes after categories close out. You should collect your award after age group awards are posted; we will not be mailing awards.
Swag: A commemorative event shirt will be given to all pre-registered runners and to late registrants while supplies last. Finisher's medals will be given to those that earn them. Sneak peeks of the event shirt and medal will be released closer to the race date.
Post race food will be provided by Gabriel II's Pizzeria. Please be advised that food is for runners only- we may not be able to accommodate specific dietary needs.
Spectators: Family and friends have the ability to drive to several locations along the course to spectate and cheer. There are areas of the course we will ask them to not travel to, as the locations have limited space. Spectator details will be provided closer to the race date.
In Case of Emergency: We encourage you to carry your cell phone. We will publish a medical emergency phone number prior to the race.
Refund and Transfers: Registrations for runBUCKS events are non-refundable and there are no transfers to another runner. Please see http://www.runbucks.com/ for full policy details.
